An atmospheric midsummer night moment in Lainiolompolo. The magnificent Lainiotunturi in the back and the meadow villas in front create a nice nuance to this picture that exudes the atmosphere of the wilderness.

Midsummer night atmosphere in the wilderness of Lainiolompolo. In the background is Lainiotunturi, whose long profile I mostly look at from the other side.

Lainiolompolo is definitely one of my favorite places in all seasons. It is a place to calm down.

In the spring, it is good to travel there on hunting skis. On the long ridge of Lake Pyhäjärvi, you can chat with the ice skaters. The shiny surface of the snow and the spring sun make the progress pleasant and there is no rush to get anywhere. It is then a relatively short distance from Pyhäjärvi. There, a familiar fallen tree trunk awaits you, on which you can eat tasty sandwiches and sip warm tea from a thermos bottle.

In the summer, the trip goes along the beautiful lakeside route on foot. On the way, you can stop to take pictures of the small beautiful things in nature.

Meadow wools, or swamp wools, give their own flavor to the marshland surrounding Lompolo. Bears also enjoy themselves in these landscapes behind the pond, so you should take a look around here. The fear is probably unwarranted, but the wilderness-like silence creates an atmosphere where you are close to nature and anything is possible.

The sunlight comes from the north and colors the slope of the fell and the forest. Once upon a time, hay was made here for livestock. The Niittyväki came from further away and brought a cow with them so that the supply of milk food was secured. They probably kept nets in the lompolo and fished for woodchucks from the stream.

To a modern person, such work seems unreasonably hard, but the people of those times did not know how to complain.

I, a person accustomed to the easy things of today, look at the landscapes and feel humbled in their midst. This is where they have lived and done their work.

The atmosphere and views in Lainiolompolo are unique. Pyhätunturi, Lainio, Aakenus and Ylläs visible in the distance, the smell of the marsh, silence.
