The long-awaited snow cover blanketed Lapland, and a new phase began in the reindeer’s cycle of life.

For millennia, these survivors have faced winter—its snow and its cold.

After the summer’s swarming insects and heat, the reindeer can start strengthening its coat and begin searching for food beneath the snow by digging.

How perfectly it blends into the snowy landscape. In summer its coat is worn and patchy, and the whole animal looks rather miserable.

In wintertime, the insect pests don’t torment it, and the reindeer is at its best, in its own element. The kind of reindeer we’ve always wanted to see. A survivor in the falling snow.
